This weekend we needed to go to Dalston in order to pick up a painting I bought from an artist who has a studio there. So, we decided to make more of a trip of it and get lunch at the same time. We aren’t Dalston regulars but have been there before a number of times for various things (including a trip to Dalston Mill Fabrics which is like a tardis of a shop).
It’s been a while since we’ve been in Dalston, so we decided to revisit somewhere we’ve been before for lunch and enjoyed, House of Momo.

Although the menu extends beyond momos, including thalis, curries and noodles, we were only here for one thing – momos.
We decided to share a regular portion (10 pcs) of cheese and veg Kothey Momos.

Then we had a mini portion (5 pcs) each. Chicken Jhol Momos (momos in a curry sauce) for me….

… and Vegetable Chilli Momos (momos in a hot and spicy sauce with a sweet kick) for my husband. Bit of a kick but not too spicy, perfect if you can’t really handle too much heat.

After picking up a painting I bought from an artist based in Dalston, we headed back to the Overground Station, making a stop at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden on the way.
One of my favourite things about London are the little community third spaces and pockets of greenery that you find dotted about the city. I always think that it’s wonderful that in a city where square footage is pricey and where any bit of land is often used to throw up a block of flats, that these spaces continue to exist.

Dalston Curve Garden is like stepping into the Secret Garden. You step through the door and it feels like you could be a million miles away from the busy high street and London.

It’s full of plants and has lots of places where you can sit in the day and either do some work or just chill with friends. There is also a little area at the end which acts as a stage where there is space for kids to play. They have an on-site cafe which generates income to support their operation.

It’s free to visit (but do buy something from the cafe if you can to support them) and open seven days a week, year round. If you’re in the area it’s well worth popping in. I only wish we lived a bit closer.
